Good afternoon CSUS families and caregivers,
We are having a busy and productive October at CSUS. Please see the updates below regarding staffing updates, next week’s lockdown drill, weekly homework, our scholar artist of the week and other important information and upcoming dates.
Staffing Updates
CSUS is preparing to welcome Jesse Waks to CSUS in the coming weeks as our new 6-8 Theater Arts teacher. Mr Waks has experience working with students K-12 and has also been involved with or directed shows for METG's annual Drama Festival for six years. We are excited for him to join our team!
In additional staffing news, after several impactful years with CSUS, Mr Adams will be moving on from Cambridge Street to pursue a career in counseling. We will deeply miss Will and the many roles he filled for staff and scholars above and beyond the scope of Family Liaison. Mr Adams will continue for the next two weeks to set us up for the transition.
Lockdown Drill next week
As a part of the district’s comprehensive school emergency procedures, we will be doing a Lockdown Drill next Thursday, November 2. Scholars will be notified about the drill and review procedures tomorrow and Thursday in classes. We will share more details about what to expect in an email to caregivers next week.

The
CSUS After School Activity Portal has been populated with new offerings! Please check out options such as Dungeons and Dragons / Magic the Gathering, 3D Printing Club and more!
CSUS Homework Expectations and Weekly HW Calendars
In an effort to keep scholars, caregivers, and out of school time providers informed regarding weekly assignments, our teaching teams are sharing weekly homework calendars. These will be posted on our website for reference and easy access.

Reminder from our School Nurse
A reminder that all CPS scholars require an up to date physical on file with the school nurse. A Tdap and Meningococcal vaccine are also due for all 7th graders. If your 7th grader received a Non-Compliant immunizations letter, please review and reach out to your Pediatrician to update your scholar’s record or to schedule an appointment for Vaccines/Physical if needed.
