Good Afternoon CSUS Families and Caregivers,

Happy Election Day - thank you to all who are exercising their civic duty and voting today.

Scholars are hard at work again this week; 8th graders participated in their first socratic seminar of the year in ELA while 6th and 7th graders are hard at work writing memoirs. 7th and 8th grade scholars in Spanish classes had the opportunity to learn about Los Días de los Muertos, the Days of the Dead, and apply their new understanding to cakes for a cake decorating contest. Below are pictures of the winning cakes by 8th grader Eileen Guzman and 7th graders Marlena See and Ada Sansoucy Lyons. For more background on the historical and cultural significance of this holiday, you can reference this informational news story

See below for information regarding Chromebook access and required forms, weekly homework, and All City Music.

Chromebook Access Reminder
As you know, the district has provided Chromebooks for scholars to use at school and home. Your scholar requires your signed consent on two documents, the Device User Agreement and the Acceptable Use Policy, in order to maintain use of their Chromebook. Devices will be shut off and locked on Friday for any scholars without signed forms.

The required forms can be found digitally in the family portal.  The AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) is in the back-to-school forms (yellow button) and the Device Agreement can be found by clicking on the second box with the signed consent forms. See the visual below.

CSUS Homework Expectations and Weekly HW Calendars
In an effort to keep scholars, caregivers, and out of school time providers informed regarding weekly assignments, our teaching teams are sharing weekly homework calendars. These will be posted on our website for reference and easy access.

Grade 8 Weekly Homework
Grade 7 Weekly Homework
Grade 6 Weekly Homework

All-City Music Program
The Visual and Performing Arts Department is looking for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to join our ‘24-’25 All-City Music Program. Enrollment is now open for the Concert Band, Orchestra, and Chorus ensembles. If your scholar is an upper-school instrumental or choir student who is passionate about making music, we would love to welcome them!
