Good Afternoon CSUS Families and Caregivers,

It was another rigorous week of learning at Cambridge Street! Earlier this week I was fortunate to catch 6th graders working on their Hominid Choice Projects in Social Studies - some were using Scratch programming to create a representation of their ideas. 7th graders were discovering the relationship between the circumference and area of circles in Math, and 8th graders were talking about the Bill of Rights in Civics.

Please see below for important information about Health Classes, our upcoming School Council meeting, Homework Expectations, and All City Music.

Upcoming Grade 6 Health Classes
Beginning last week and continuing this week, our Health teacher Ms Clark is working to teach 6th grade students about mental health and how to seek help if they are worried about themselves or a friend. We are using a program called SOS Signs of Suicide. The program teaches students about this difficult topic and encourages them to seek help.  This is a standard part of the Grade 6 curriculum. Given events in our community this year, Ms Clark and I wanted to make sure to highlight for families that the lessons will be happening this week.

Across the district, Grade 6 Health teachers are using a program called SOS Signs of Suicide. The program teaches students about this difficult topic and encourages them to seek help. Ms Clark sent a separate email with more specific information about curriculum and resources.

CSUS School Council Kicks Off on November 21, 6:30 to 7:30PM
Join the School Council meeting this Thursday, November 21, from 6:30 to 7:30PM in-person or virtually. If interested in joining virtually email Christen Sohn at [email protected].

All caregivers are welcome. If you can only attend one School Council meeting this year, please try to make it this one. We will review the School Improvement Plan (SIP) which will set our priorities for the year.

You are vital partners in setting the agenda for CSUS. You do not have to join the SC formally to attend meetings. Attend as many or as few meetings as you like, or just email us and we will do our best to represent you and your scholars and all the information and ideas that you share with us.

With gratitude and solidarity,
The CSUS School Council
Alison Bagg, Jessica Brewer, Catherine Rich, Fatima Sammy, Christen Sohn, and the CSUS Leadership Team
