Good Afternoon CSUS Families and Caregivers,

We hope you are having a good week, and that you had the opportunity to celebrate the moms and mother figures in our community this weekend! I had the pleasure of attending the closing night performance of Myths at the Edge of the World last Friday with my middle child, who has since declared that he would like to be a part of the play at camp this summer. The praise doesn't stop there - tremendous congratulations and thanks to Ms Costantino, Mr Waks, Mx Liza, and all those that supported the production. Congratulations are in order, not just for scholars’ outstanding performances last week but also for their achievements at the METG Middle School Drama Festival on May 4. Wins included:

  • Bronze medal (overall)
  • Stage Manager’s Award - Asa Brown, Harriet Lund, and Clara Oltman
  • Excellence in Acting - Ryle Denvir and Neal Williams
  • Excellence in Prop Design and Execution - Neal Williams, Charlie Parker, Arielle Flowers, Alexandra White, and Clara Oltman

BRAVO to the cast and crew on a tremendous theater season!

Please see below for information about MCAS this week, weekly homework, the District and School Culture Survey, an important warm weather reminder, the Spring Chorus Concert and Art Show, the Cobra Dash, and important reminders from our PCO and important upcoming dates for our community!

MCAS Testing for 8th Graders this week - Please charge Chromebooks!
A reminder that STE (Science, Technology, Engineering) MCAS testing begins tomorrow, Wednesday, May 14 for 8th grade scholars only; please ensure your child brings their charged chromebook to school tomorrow and remember that tomorrow, like every day, phones and tech will be collected at the start of each day. If scholars are not comfortable turning in devices they may be left at home.

Please support your child at home with the same message that we are giving at school: this test will measure skills that are important in your continuing academic development and will celebrate the growth you made this year. Your classwork has prepared you for success, and we believe in you!

The District and School Culture Survey is now open!
We at CSUS would like to hear from YOU about your scholar’s experience at Cambridge Street as we strive to continue to provide high quality learning experiences that meet the needs of all of our scholars. The district has partnered with Panorama Education for the survey. Panorama safeguards your privacy, keeping your responses confidential.

You may complete the survey online through Friday, May 30. Take the survey here.

CSUS Homework Expectations and Weekly HW Calendars
In an effort to keep scholars, caregivers, and out of school time providers informed regarding weekly assignments, our teaching teams are sharing weekly homework calendars. These will be posted on our website for reference and easy access.

Grade 8 Weekly Homework
Grade 7 Weekly Homework
Grade 6 Weekly Homework

Warm Weather Reminder
As the weather gets nicer, we wanted to remind scholars and families that water guns, gel blasters, and other weapon-like toys are not permitted at school. These items can cause distress, alarm, and/or distraction during the instructional day.

THE PCO NEEDS YOU!!!
We have two more meetings this school year and in our final meeting we plan to elect next year's board.

All roles are open, but in particular we are looking for a parent who is good with numbers to help out our treasurer and a parent who knows how to organize a small team and run meetings to help out with leadership.

Please join our next meeting to see what it's all about!
