CSUS Tuesday Take Home: September 15, 2026
Message from Christen Sohn
Good afternoon CSUS parents and caregivers,
I hope all had an enjoyable weekend, and Shana Tova to our families who celebrated Rosh Hashanah!
September is in full swing, and so is teaching and learning! Our 6th graders are exploring how to use microscopes in Science and almanacs in Social Studies. In math, they are finding the area of triangles. Scholars in 7th grade are reviewing coordinates on a plane in math and learning about the water cycle in science. 8th graders are exploring the idea of personal values in Civics. Scholars in all grades are launching literacy work this year by practicing reading and responding to texts (poetry, plays, and short stories). Next week, educators will share a curriculum update with additional information and strategies connected to your child’s learning - keep an eye on Parent Square for an update from your child’s grade level teaching team.
We are looking forward to getting to know you and your scholars better in the coming weeks. Some formal upcoming opportunities for connecting with CSUS include
Listening Conferences: Your scholar’s advisor will contact you later this month to schedule a conference where we can hear from you and learn more about your child and family.
Back to School Night NEXT WEEK on September 23. Come to meet your scholars’ teacher, learn about curriculum, and get to know the CSUS community partners.
You should be receiving messages and information directly from your scholars’ teachers and/or teaching team via Parent Square, and we are also always happy to hear from you - you can reach any member of CSUS via email. Most email addresses are a combination of the individual’s first initial and last name @cpsd.us. For example, you can reach Christen Sohn at csohn@cpsd.us. If you need assistance finding an email address, please reach out to Ms Howard at dhoward@cpsd.us.
CSUS Homework Expectations and Weekly Homework Calendars
In an effort to keep scholars, caregivers, and out of school time providers informed regarding weekly assignments, our teaching teams are sharing weekly homework calendars. These will be posted on our website for reference and easy access.

CPS Strategic Plan Survey
Cambridge Public Schools (CPS) is building our next four-year strategic plan. We want to ensure our priorities for the new strategic plan reflect the values and opinions of all CPS stakeholders.
This survey asks you to identify your top priorities from a list of potential initiatives. Your feedback will directly inform which projects move forward and how we sequence them over the next four years.
The survey will take about five (5) minutes to complete. If you have questions about the survey, please email cps@cpsd.us. Thank you!
