Hello CSUS Caregivers,

CSUS would like to say congratulations to the World Language Week Poster Contest winners. Sara Sabry and Vida Velasco (poster #12) for Best Interpretation of the Theme, Eleanor Downey (poster #5) for Most Creative and Sara Sabry and Vida Velasco (poster #3) for Most Informative.

Congratulations to Sam Greene, Ms. Pearl, Sara Soloman, Basem Moustafa, Ana Colacelli, Ruri Duffy, Henry Lesatele, Ms. Peruzzi, Sakina Cotton, Ms. Schwarz, and Ms. Maws who ran the Cambridge Spring Classic 5K Road Race on Sunday to raise money for the upcoming Eighth Grade Trip to NYC!

In other exciting CSUS news YPP scholars have been working hard on a Young People's Project Math Playbook. Please join us tonight as they showcase their ideas @ the MIT Museum from 6-8PM.

City Basketball Championships
Tomorrow, April 3rd CSUS scholars will participate in the City Basketball Championship game. It will be held at CRLS at 3:15. Please come cheer on the cobras and support the team by wearing blue!

Parent Caregiver Organization Meeting
Also happening tomorrow evening is the Parent Caregiver Organization. The meeting will take place in room 312 from 6:30-8PM. Join us as we discuss our fundraising efforts and upcoming events like the eighth grade trip to New York City.

Middle Grades Health Survey
On April 4th CSUS scholars will take the Middle Grades Health survey. This survey helps us assess the social climate at CSUS as it pertains to our scholars’ health and decision making skills.

MCAS Testing
April 9th is the first day of ELA MCAS testing for grade 6. April 23rd is the first day of ELA MCAS for grades 7 & 8. Breakfast is essential as studies show it improves concentration. A free breakfast is provided for all scholars in our cafeteria. Please make sure your child(ren) arrives to school on time.

Sixth Grade Caregiver Meeting
On April 10th CSUS will host a meeting for sixth grade caregivers to discuss the social climate of CSUS and how it affects our scholars. The meeting will take place from 6:30-8PM in room 212. Please come ready to share thoughts and ideas as well to provide feedback.

Semester Two Progress Reports
On April 12th you will receive an email prompting you to log onto Aspen to view your child’s Semester 2 Progress Report. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email CSUS staff or Ms. Sohn in the main office.

No School
April 15th there will be no school in observance of Patriot’s Day.
April 15th-19 is Spring Vacation. Classes will not be in session.

Diversity Dialogues
April 25th is the next series of Diversity Dialogues. The event will take place from 6-8PM. Please watch for details.

The Spring Dances
On April 26th the CSUS Student Council will host two Spring Dances. The sixth grade dance will take place from 4-5:30PM. The seventh and eighth grade dance will take place from 6-7:30PM. Dinner will be provided. All scholars must have a signed permission slip to attend.

Book Fair
CSUS and K-Lo will host a JK through 8th grade Book Fair from April 30th to May 2nd in the school library in partnership with Fantastic Book Fairs. New and used books will be for sale along with small items like pencils, notebooks, and bookmarks. We will have a donation jar at the book fair register to help us ensure that all K-Lo and CSUS scholars who want a book can get a book from our Book Fair. Questions? Reach out to Norah Connolly. Lost and Found
Please encourage your child(ren) to check the lost and found. It is located on the first floor outside of the cafeteria. All unclaimed Items will be donated at the end of the month.

Mr. Adams has returned from his leave. Below is a message from him to you:
Dear CSUS Parents and Caregivers,
It has been a while since I last spoke with you all, but I am happy to inform you that I am back at the Cambridge Street Upper School and I am prepared to assist our Scholars and Families in any way I can. I am extremely appreciative of all the thoughts and prayers that were sent my way during my recovery from surgery and I am very excited to be back and present within the CSUS community.
